BARNEY'S COLLECTION
Music has been an essential ingredient for my mental health and well-being for as long as I can remember. It’s my security blanket of sorts. When I’m happy or sad, pumped-up or mad, beats and smooth melodies soothe my soul.
Sharing this sensation has been a life’s work. When I was young, I incessantly compiled mixtapes. As an older youth, I’ve obsessed over DJs who’ve made my passion their profession through our bringthebeats community. Spreading the love and positive energy of the world’s maestros is my healthiest addiction.
barneysUNMIXEDtapes is my newest project and bringthebeats is a two-decade-plus labour of love. Together, they’re one of the grooviest music collections on the Internet and certainly one of my greatest sources of pride and joy.

FRESH TRAX
My digital collection of trax started in 2010 when I was one of the few who actually purchased a Napster streaming subscription. When Napster went belly up, my trax were ported over to Rdio for a brief stop before heading to Spotify in 2016. That’s when my repositories really started to grow.
The first of barneysUNMIXEDtapes was born in 2019 and the collection currently sits at over 130 hour-long, curated playlists (and counting). Over 1500 trax, organized into 19 carefully thought out series, named for their VIBE and contrived genre. Soon I will release them one by one on this site; however, to get a head start on the debut volumes…
TIMELESS MIXES
bringthebeats was my electronic music promotions crew operating from within the Toronto underground scene from 2002 to 2017. We promoted and hosted hundreds of DJ parties throughout the years, but sharing music from these events and promoting promotional mixes from all our favourite talents is what we always loved most.
We have an archive of over 650 DJ sets in our archive, which we continued to add to until around 2021. There’s always the thought of restarting the community, but for now, you can simply enjoy the timeless mixes that are available 24/7 by clicking the button below.
